Residency

Beauty in the heart of St Mary

A view of a beach from the water
Charming white cottage with turquoise door and climbing plants
Swimming pool in manicured garden with stone houses and green landscape

Located in the north west of the island, the studio is housed over two sites: the Quartermaster’s Studio in Greve de Lecq and the Dairy Studio at Oaklands manor.

Greve de Lecq is a small bay with a sandy beach and offers great access to the rugged north coast. Oaklands manor is situated in farmland just up the hill in beautiful countryside.

The residency is suitable for 3-4 artists. It runs from Saturday to Saturday. Total weekly prices are given below.

You will stay in the Dairy Cottage at Oaklands Manor in rural tranquillity. There is 1x double bedroom, 1x single and 1x twin room.

At Oaklands you have access to the extensive mature gardens, shared outdoor pool and the Luddite Press Dairy Studio. A short 10 minute cycle (3.5km) from here is the Quartermaster’s Studio at Greve de Lecq. Between the 2 sites you are able to do etching, screen printing, relief and letterpress.

The residency includes accommodation and access to both our studios 24hrs/day. All consumable materials in the print room are provided for the artist. Paper, etching plates, wood and lino is available to purchase from us or make arrangements to bring your own.

We have bicycles available to use. There is a bus service nearby and a shop and pub within walking distance of both studios and accommodation. Pick up from Jersey airport can be arranged or details given for a taxi.

There is no brief for the residency, it is designed to be individually led and self directed. It is open to artists of all disciplines although some experience of printmaking is preferred. Both studios are printrooms, though it is up to the artist to decide where their work sits in the “expanded field” of print.

Artists are encouraged to leave a print or artwork of their choosing as a donation to the Luddite Press archive.

Residencies for individuals and pairs are available too.

Please enquire for available dates.

We've made a note
of these...

"SO much fun! I became a Luddite member after my workshop and now use the studio every week to make my own drypoint etchings"
Lucy
"It was a good chance to get hands-on and a little messy. I made something I will cherish forever (hang in the downstairs loo)"
Patrick
"I had no idea what to expect but was supported through every step of the process and left with several prints I am very happy with. The class gave me an appreciation for what goes into making a print"
